Identification of Molecular Targets of Cancers and Infectious Diseases − Medical Applications

Project Leader Futoshi Shibasaki

Leader Futoshi Shibasaki

Backgrounds

The increase in cancer incidence and global emergence and re-emergence infectious disease that have resulted from demographic aging have become a major social problem.

To overcome these problems, this project seeks to further the basic research through the discovery and elucidation of new molecular targets focusing on cancer and infectious disease. Simultaneously, it aims to realize practical applications such as the development of new treatments by promoting research through collaborative partnerships between industry, government, and the academy as well as with Tokyo hospitals.

Objectives

  • To promote the discovery and analysis of molecular targets with a focus on cancer and infectious diseases and to use these in the development of diagnostic and treatment methods
  • To promote research through collaborative partnerships between industry, government, and the academy
