Ms. Miharu Nakanishi, Chief Researcher of the Mental Health Promotion Project, received the recognition award 2016 from Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Welfare Foundation for her achievement in the area of welfare for seniors.

In the area of welfare for seniors, Ms. Nakanishi received the “recognition award” 2016 for her article published in the Journal of the Alzheimer’s Association (Alzheimer’s & Dementia).

Ms. Nakanishi and her colleagues conducted international comparison of the national dementia strategies between 8 countries including Japan. They thus clarified a dementia care pathway from a diagnosis of dementia to end-of-life care per country, and identified challenges in dementia care policies. The article was cited in a commentary article regarding the G8 Dementia Summit on the Lancet. Furthermore, it was included in a National Plans Bibliography by the Alzheimer's Disease International. Her work consequently provided the important findings in relation to the development of dementia strategies in the global societies.

The recognition award was announced in news release on the website of the Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Welfare Foundation, Public Interest Incorporated Foundation.
