Yuichiro Miyaoka, PhD, Project Leader of Regenerative Medicine Project, together with Md. Shamsuzzoha Bayzid, PhD, an Assistant Professor at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, and Clara Li, PhD, an Assistant Professor at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai are awarded the Outstanding Team Presentation Award in the Interstellar Initiative Workshop co-hosted by Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), and the New York Academy of Sciences (NYAS). The Interstellar Initiative Program is aimed to enhance international collaborations between Japanese young scientists with those from all over the world to create seeds for innovations in medical research. Usually the workshop is held in New York, but it was held online this year. The award is for their innovative research plan to address the influences of genetic background differences in pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease by using genome-edited human iPS cells.
