News 2024-

December 8 2024Jie Bai gave an oral presentation at the annual meeting of the ASH at San Diego, showing that Hmga1 regulates self-renwal function of hematopoietic stem cell.

October 13 2024Ai presented her poster studying stem cell response post transplantation at the JSH meeting.

October 12 2024Dr. Mariko Morii won a JSH Young Investigator's Award in 2024. We are very much proud of you. Congratulations!.

July 19 2024We get an AMED grant for neuroscince research (PI, Dr. Nariko Arimura; Co-PI, Sashida). Our proposal is to understand a molecular mechanism of Down syndrome-related dementia.
May 30 2024We have published an article in EMBO J, describing the fuction of Hmga2 in stem cell in stress conditions. The molecular mechanisms controlling the response of hematopoietic stem cells to insults remain poorly defined. To answer this question, we generated a Hmga2 conditional knock-in mouse and a Hmag2 conditional knock-out mouse, and these genetic models revealed a critical role of chromatin modifier Hmga2 in stress-induced regeneration of the adult hematopoiesis.
May 21 2024I gave a short talk at International Workshop on Molecular Aspects of Myeloid Stem Cell Development and Leukemia at Cincinnati.

May 12 2024We have published an article in Leukemia, demonstratig that Tif1β/Kap1/Trim28 opened chromatin and activated the transcription of oncogenes in BCR::ABL1-expressing hematopoietic stem cells to drive the progression of BCR::ABL1-induced myeloid leukemia. I also post a comment on this paper in Research Communities by Springer Nature, please have a look if you have an account.
April 13 2024Goro and Hitoshi gave talks at Zhujiang Summit on Hematology at the Annual Congress of Hematology on April 13th in Guangzhou, China.

December 11 2023Jie Bai gave an oral presentation at the annual meeting of the ASH at San Diego, showing how Trisomy 8 induces changes in transcrioptional networks and chromatins in hematopoietic stem cell. We are proud of her because of her accomplishment on the project to understand unknown mechanisms of the transformation by Trisomy 8.

November 22 2023We welcome Teona Paresishvili as an internship student from Georgia. We hope you enjoy and learn a lot here even though time is limited.

August 16 2023Goro Sashida giave a talk at workshop on "Hematopoietic stem cell homeostasis and leukemic evolution".

April 19 2023We have published an article in the Journal of Experimental Medicine, which demonstrated that prior stimulation with bacterial and viral products followed by the loss of Tet2 remodels the transcriptional and epigenetic landscapes and cellular functions in HSCs via the Trif-Plk-Elf1 axis and drives the development of MDS.
November 2 2022Sashida is exchanging ideas with outstanding researchers and gives a talk at the International RUNX conference at San Antonio.

September 16 2022We get an AMED grant for cancer research. Our proposal is to understand a molecular mechanism of how chromosomal anomalies drive formation of blood cancer.
September 5 2022Goro Sashida visit and disucss with Dr. Kalakonda and his colleagues at Liverpool University.
June 20 2021We have published a letter in Leukemia, which demonstrates a Rosa26 LSL-RUNX1-ETO conditional knock-in mouse model, presenting age-dependent leukemogenesis by using enhancer of Runx1-Cre-ERT2 trangenic mice.
January 15 2021We have published a brief communication in Oncogene, which demonstrates that Hmga2 activates Igf2bp2 and remodels transcriptional progrma in hematopoietic stem cell during myeloid transfomation.
November 11 2020We hold a virtual mini symposium between Kumamoto and Cincinnati, in which my old friends, Gang and Marie gave fascinating talks on mitochondria biologies in normal and malignant hematopoiesis, and Terumasa gave a novel insight into metabolites contirbutiion to hematopoietic stem cell fate decision upon stress.

April 27 2020We have published an article in Cancer Reserch, which demonstrates oncogenic function of RUNX3 that suppresses RUNX1 and promotes transfomation of MDS.
