Emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases are occurring worldwide and have become major public health concerns.The memory of global pandemics, COVID-19, that caused worldwide turmoil is still fresh. The Research Center for Infectious Diseases Medical Science conducts a wide range of infection-related research activities, focusing on "priority infectious diseases," and “hard-to-cure infectious diseases," for which effective control methods have not yet been fully established. In preparation for future outbreaks, the center actively engages in collaborations with other laboratories and centers within TMIMS and with other institutions. In the event of pandemic, the research center leads the institute's infectious disease control activities by establishing a cooperative framework within the institute as well as with other institutions.
