We study the functions of the human genome, focusing especially on transcriptional regulation. In particular, we are identifying novel genomic signals that regulate transcription in various cell types, tissues and organs. In collaboration with municipal hospitals, we will explore the molecular bases for transcriptional changes in various diseases. We will also conduct in-house collaborations with individual research groups at TMiMS to facilitate genome-scale analyses.
We study the promoting factors of adolescent mental and physical health and development by large-scale cohort study and intractable disease nursing care.
We also develop social science and medicine research that meets the demands of administration in cooperation with the Tokyo metropolitan government.
We will focus on the molecular mechanisms of viral infections that may cause pandemics and immune regulatory mechanisms that counteract the infection. This will lead to the development of therapeutics and universal vaccines. Additionally, we will collaborate with the Tokyo Metropolitan Institute of Public Health and municipal hospitals to promote effective infectious diseases research.control. In the event of an emergency, a cooperative framework will be established with each project, research center, and support center to organize the institute's infectious disease control activities.
