Genomic information is increasingly being utilized in various medical contexts, such as assessing disease risk, selecting optimal therapies, and developing new drugs. Currently, only 1–2% of the human genome is primarily referenced for these purposes, as the relevance of the remaining portions remains largely unexplored. At the Research Center for Genome & Medical Sciences, we conduct research to uncover the functions encoded within the human genome, with a particular focus on gene expression and its regulatory mechanisms, aiming to apply these insights to disease control. By leveraging advanced experimental and computational technologies to analyze the entire genome, we promote collaborative research with metropolitan hospitals and other research groups, contributing to the advancement of a broad range of medical sciences.
