32nd TMIMS International Symposium
Most human cells are diploid, possessing two sets of chromosomes inherited from both parents. However, certain cell types—such as hepatocytes, cardiomyocytes, skeletal muscle cells, and osteoclasts—increase their ploidy to tetraploid or higher during normal developmental programs. It is also clear that in diseases like cancer, cells fail to maintain diploidy and exhibit aneuploidy. Furthermore, more macroscopically, there are many species that are not diploid, and changes in ploidy are thought to have driven evolution. Because the ploidy is such a fundamental element of life, research on polyploidy spans a wide range of fields, from basic life sciences to medicine. This symposium brings together leading researchers in polyploidy studies from Japan and abroad to present and discuss the latest findings, thereby promoting further research development.
私達人間の細胞の多くは、両親から１本ずつ受け継いだ染色体を持つ２倍体である。しかし、肝細胞、心筋細胞、骨格筋細胞、破骨細胞など、一部の細胞種は正常な発生プログラムの中で、４倍体以上に倍数性を増加させる。また、がんなどの疾患においては、細胞が２倍体を保たず、異数性を示すことも明らかである。さらに巨視的に見ると、２倍体以外の倍数性を持つ生物種も多く存在し、倍数性の変化が進化の原動力となってきたとも考えられている。このように倍数性は、生物の根本的な要素であるがゆえに、基礎生命科学から医学に至るまで、幅広い分野で研究が進められている。このシンポジウムでは、倍数性研究をリードする国内外の研究者が集い、最新の知見を発表し議論することで、さらなる研究の発展を促す。

If you would like to make a presentation at the symposium, please enter the title of your presentation in the online form. Please choose either Standard Talk or Short Talk only, Poster only, or Standard Talk or Short Talk plus Poster (Please note that you cannot give both a Standard Talk and a Short Talk). All presentations will be conducted in English.
